Holiday greetings!
We’ve wrapped up our first ever shareholder resolution just in time for the holidays – or so we hope! It is submitted and now up to the SEC for approval. So how can we submit a shareholder resolution if our entire endowment is “on the street” and invested in leading edge businesses? Well, we decided to buy some stock to try our hand at this tool since we keep preaching to others to vote their own proxies and do shareholders resolutions. We are blazing the trail for you!
Our resolution is about plastics in our drinking water; water that is supplied to 8 states though these plastics are in water sources across the country. Recent blood work of mine, thanks to a study by the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University, confirms that I have enough plastic in my body to significantly increase my chances of certain cancers and autoimmune diseases. Scary business! So jump in and try shareholder resolutions to support your mission and to make the planet healthier for all.

The prize for transparency goes to…
…the Valentine Foundation! How exciting to see right in their December e-newsletter that they are going to reveal their full endowment on their 990-PF. Check out their web page on mission aligned investing! They walk – and publicize – their talk.
Wanna do the same? Here’s our “Toolkit” on how to include your full endowment on your tax return. And here’s Clara Miller’s article to remind you why you want to do this!

Meet Entrepreneur Erik Foster of Rende Progress Capital
What fun to run into Erik Foster at the Mission Investors Exchange Conference last week. Eric is the co-founder of Rende Progress Capital, a racial equity loan fund and emerging Community Development Financial Institution investing in Entrepreneurs of Color, who face barriers to acquiring traditional loans due to racial inequity and bias. We were an early and proud investor in this trail blazing institution.
