Senda makes Fair Trade soccer balls emphasizing good craftsmanship and the joy of playing, all while improving lives along the way. Argentina-born, California-based Santiago Halty wants to change the business of soccer balls, support soccer nonprofits, and bring back the fun and community of a casual street game.
As he says, “We hope to inspire the millions of soccer lovers at home and abroad to explore how to utilize their soccer passion to make a positive impact in the lives of others.”
Halty says he wanted to launch a company that considered the people who make the product, made sure they earned a fair wage, and allowed them to improve their lives through their work. He also wanted to share soccer with those who could not afford the equipment and give those in at-risk communities the opportunity to play sports, build leadership skills, and stay “off the streets.”
While their soccer balls can be found on Amazon and at other major retailers, you can also purchase them directly from their website. In addition to classic and kids’ balls, they also specialize in “street” soccer balls, meant specifically to be used on pavement. Senda is a certified B Corporation and produces certified Fair Trade soccer balls.
In addition to investments, Untours Foundation Co-CEO Elizabeth Killough and board member Lisa Mitchell have each met with Senda’s founder and staff for brainstorming on other funders and marketing ideas.
