iAccess Life is a mobile app that helps businesses improve their accessibility for people with disabilities by using innovative technology and real-time feedback. Founded by Brandon Winfield, who was inspired by his own challenges with navigating inaccessible spaces, iAccess Life equips businesses with actionable insights to improve accessibility, particularly for those with mobility impairments/ Through its user-friendly app, individuals can rate and review the accessibility of venues like restaurants, hotels, and tourist destinations. This real-time feedback empowers businesses to make necessary improvements—whether it’s enhancing parking options, upgrading restroom facilities, or improving overall accessibility, creating more inclusive environments where people with disabilities can fully participate and enjoy everyday experiences without worrying about inaccurate accessibility data.
The iAccess Life Origin Story
Brandon Winfield’s journey to founding iAccess Life began after a life-changing motocross accident in 2008 that left him paralyzed from the waist down at just 14 years old. Faced with the immense challenge of adjusting to life with a disability, Brandon’s determination and love for racing kept him moving forward. As he traveled for competitions and leisure, he began to notice the inconsistencies in accessibility across different venues. Some places were accessible, meeting ADA standards, but many were not, creating frustrating and unnecessary barriers for people like him.
These experiences sparked the idea for iAccess Life—a mobile app designed to empower people with disabilities to “know before they go.” The app allows users to rate and review the accessibility of public venues, helping others in the community make informed decisions about where they can go comfortably and confidently. Since its launch in 2019, iAccess Life has grown to include over 3,500 locations in 45 states and 30 countries, making a difference for thousands of people seeking accessible spaces. With the support of co-founder Sayeed Mehrejerdian, iAccess Life is on a mission to create a more inclusive world, where people with disabilities can experience life without limitations and enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else.
Transforming Accessibility in the Travel and Hospitality Industry
One of iAccess Life’s flagship products is a location-based app that allows users to rate and review the accessibility of establishments like restaurants, bars, and tourist destinations. Another key innovation is Voice, a customer feedback tool that captures real-time accessibility data through QR codes, enabling businesses to gather valuable insights about their services. By focusing on areas such as parking, restrooms, and common spaces, Voice helps businesses prioritize improvements, make data-driven decisions, and boost operational efficiency.
Through initiatives like the Operation Bus Stop Census, Brandon Winfield continues to advocate for accessible public transit and infrastructure improvements, ensuring that everyone has equal access to essential services. His work has inspired countless individuals to reimagine accessibility in their communities and has shown businesses the value of being proactive in meeting the needs of all customers.
By focusing on accessibility in public spaces, airports, tourist destinations, and hotels, iAccess Life is helping businesses create more welcoming environments for travelers with mobility challenges. In turn, these businesses can attract a wider audience and boost their reputation as inclusive and forward-thinking establishments. iAccess Life has already made significant strides in raising awareness and promoting change, with features in major outlets like CNN, CBS, and NPR’s “How I Built This” Fellowship.
